Everyone deserves a chance at happily ever after, don’t they? Even a proper villain and a damaged little dove.

Rob
I’ve always known the happy ending bit wasn’t for me. A proper villain, I’ve done things that don’t deserve that patch of happiness. Something needs doing, I do it. Don’t care much what it is, long as it keeps me in tea and trousers. So, when I got the offer to go up north for a spell, I didn’t think twice about working for another vamp, it was time to move on. Only the last thing I expected to find in the house of the Jarl of the Pacific Northwest was her.

She moved like a delicate flower in the breeze, in pink dance togs that clung to her like a second skin from neck to knees, a gauzy skirt flowing against her as she danced. Sable hair spilled down her back, floating every which way when she spun, like it had a life of its own.

What in the name of all fuckery was she doing here?

Olivia
Seven years. Seven years since I’d last laid eyes on Rob, and there he was.
Same old Robby. The same whiff of bay rum aftershave and his own distinct scent I’d all but forgotten. The lilt of his rough accent reminded me of home and set off a different kind of longing. God strike me, he looked just as tempting as always.

This wouldn’t do at all. I couldn’t let him ruin everything.

Seven long years since I found Heaven and Hell in a single day. But I had to shut that all away in the past again and keep playing the role of Peyton’s sweet little dove. I had to keep focused or it would all be for nothing.

This story continues with the situation that I set up at the end of Know Me When the Sun Goes Down. If you haven’t read that one (or all of the previous Forged Bloodlines series), please stop and go back and read those first as well as Fated Love in this Fated Bloodlines series. Otherwise, this book won’t make as much sense or the stakes won’t be nearly as high.

Up next I’m working on continuing with the sequel to The Fallen series, Secrets of the Fallen, picking up with Mercy’s daughter Eve.

Okay, so… I guess I haven’t written anything since October of 2018. For a long time, I wasn’t sure I could, I’ve been so disheartened. Work has been so soul sucking I haven’t had the brain space to write, even if I had the time, and then the whole pandemic, blah… blah… blah…

Then I started writing Rob’s book in early 2022 and it started off strong until I lost momentum and that fizzled out. It’s been a busy couple of years since then, changing jobs, moving across the country, getting used to a different climate (humidity sucks!). So, when I started writing again a few weeks ago, I didn’t want to announce it since my last effort crashed and burned.

But now I can confirm I have completed Rob’s book!!! The Things You Say should be going live soon and I’ll post the links here. Rob’s story continues with the situation that I set up at the end of Know Me When the Sun Goes Down. If you haven’t read that one (or all of the previous Forged Bloodlines series), please stop and go back and read those first as well as Fated Love in this Fated Bloodlines series. Otherwise, this book won’t make as much sense or the stakes won’t be nearly as high.

After werewolves attack her family, Amelia Singer escapes to Cutter’s Folly in search of her long lost grandmother. There she finds the strangest revelation yet – not only is she descended from a long line of shapeshifters, Amelia’s firstborn is destined to lead the pack to dominion over all others. Now power hungry shifters everywhere will stop at nothing to share in that prophecy. Choosing a mate is the only way to end the violence, but how can she be expected to choose a man she’s known for less than a week? At the heart of this struggle, Amelia is torn between Chase, who makes her pulse race with a single sultry glance, and Cutter, a reclusive but tempting loner with secrets of his own. Can fiercely independent Amelia find happiness with the pack, or will she rebel under the pressure and take her chances on her own?

Chase dropped to the ground on her right, landing light as a cat before straightening to his full height and stepping close. “You’re not so good at listening, let’s see how good you are with your mouth,” he smirked. Closing the distance between them, he leaned down to kiss her, giving her no opportunity to pull away.
Millie opened her mouth to retort, her reply cut off to little more than a squeak as his mouth closed over hers. Who the hell did he think he was? A wolf… a little voice deep inside reminded as she tasted his hunger. Awareness flushed through her body as Chase pressed her against the length of him, trapping her body between his and the tree. Everything about him was hard and unyielding, but he didn’t punish her with his strength, he merely kept her from escaping while he explored the dark secrets of her mouth at his leisure. Amelia’s initial hesitation quickly disappeared, the blood singing in her veins as her arousal spread like wildfire wherever their bodies touched.
Still, a smidgen of self control remained and Millie shoved at his chest, desperate to create a little space between them. Chase barely gave an inch, blazing a trail of kisses along the curve of her jaw toward the smooth column of her throat.
“What are you doing?” she demanded, even as her fingers slid up to curl around the collar of his shirt, pulling him closer.
“Showing you how dangerous the night can be.”
His kiss was everything wild and dangerous about the night as promised, and a secret part of herself she didn’t even know existed responded to the predator who took what he wanted, instead of asking permission as society dictated. No thought for consequences or the future, Chase operated on a purely sensual level. She could feel it in the way the energy thrummed from his body to hers. It made her forget the party in full swing just a few feet away, forget her objections to being manhandled altogether. Somewhere in the back of her mind that bothered her in a big way, and a flare of panic went through her as he touched bare skin.
“Wait…” she panted, breaking the kiss and drawing in a ragged breath.
“Relax.” Chase made no move to let her go, lips brushing over the sensitive spot where neck met shoulder.
“We should get back to the party.”
“I warned you not to stray into the dark woods unprotected.” His teeth scraped lightly over her flesh in a love bite, and Millie hoped it wouldn’t leave a mark. That was the last thing she wanted to explain to Gran.
“You were the one who was supposed to protect me, remember?”
“I am protecting you,” he insisted.
“How, by mauling me out in the woods yourself?” Millie demanded, pulling her head away to try and catch his gaze.
“I am keeping you safe by making you mine,” Chase replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Who says I’m yours?”
That brought him up short. “Is there someone else?”
“Well, no, but…”
“Then what’s the problem?” His sexy grin reappeared.
“The problem is, I just met you yesterday, Chase. I don’t work that fast.”
“You can’t fight your destiny, Amelie. You know we belong together.”
“Don’t call me that,” she snapped irritably. Chase seemed unperturbed, stroking his fingers down the bare skin of her back, making her shiver with delight. It took Amelia a long moment to focus her thoughts again before she could reply. “Just because you’re a good kisser, doesn’t make you my destiny. Besides, what about Leah?”
“What about her?” He stared back blankly.
“Aren’t you and she…?”
Chase gave an inelegant snort. “That was never anything serious.”
“Does she know that? Because if looks could kill…”
“She knew exactly what she was getting into.”
Millie turned that over in her head for a moment, trying to decide exactly what he meant by that. “Look…” She stole a deep, calming breath. “I like you Chase. I’d like to get to know you better, but I don’t belong to anyone but myself. That’s about all I’m offering right now. If that’s not enough…” She shook her head.
Chase stared back at her for a long moment, and then the tension went out of his body and he found his smile again. “Alright, that’ll have to be enough for now. I’m a patient man, Millie – up to a certain point,” he replied, tilting her chin up and placing an almost chaste kiss to her lips. “So, if you’re not going to let me steal your virtue out here, let’s get back to the party. And no more wandering off, you understand?”
“Okay, okay,” she grumbled, trusting the darkness to hide her eye roll. “I read you loud and clear.” She accepted his hand for the walk back to the party.
“Good, I’d hate to have to give you another lesson.”

I am a writer, wife, and mother of two currently living in the Pacific Northwest. I am a complete TV addict (have to have it on at all times, even when I’m writing). I also enjoy online RPG’s, singing, reading, cooking… lots more I can’t think of at the moment.

The supernatural has long been my favorite to write and read. Werewolves, vampires, witchcraft, ghosts, things that go bump in the night; these are a few of my favorite things to write about. Not sparkly beings with phenomenal cosmic power that are always the smartest, bravest, prettiest Mary Sue to walk the planet, but real people who just happen to have this little quirk…

Wow, I knew time was getting away from me, but I hadn’t realized just how long it’s been since I posted on my page! I’ve been deep into Tempt Me When the Sun Goes Down for weeks, and with the holiday craziness, I admit, I haven’t even thought about updating! Santa was very good to me, completely understanding my Captain America <del datetime="2015-01-03T04:08:56+00:00">fetish</del> admiration, and adding several new things to my <del datetime="2015-01-03T04:13:13+00:00">shrine</del> display case.

I just finished the first draft of Tempt Me and it’s on the road to my editing team now. Stay tuned for the cover reveal coming up soon, and the announcement of the release date (most likely in the 2nd half of January) and party on Facebook. I’ve been busy working on a fun secret project as well, I’ll be posting about that in a few days time as soon as it goes live and I can share it with you all.

2014 was a crazy busy year for me, I published 7 full length books, and 2015 is shaping up to be just as busy. So, what’s up next? Besides finally working on the final chapter of my Cap/Black Widow fanfic I’ve been neglecting for weeks? Next up will be the 4th book of The Company series, The Company of Death, due next Spring.

Happy Saturday m’lovelies! I’ve just finished the first draft of Hear Me When the Sun Goes Down, which means I get a few hours to catch up on TVD episodes and Hallmark movies and then it’s on to the editing process. The Captain’s been hard at work on the new cover and we’ve got a couple of options we’d love to get your opinion on. This cover is a bit of a departure from the other Forged Bloodlines books, but I fell in love with this pic of “Anja” and couldn’t resist trying to make it work. As incentive, I will be giving away a copy of Hear Me (or one of my other books if you prefer) the winner have a choice of an ebook or a signed print book once they’re out. To enter, just vote which cover you prefer in the comments below.

It’s time for a new dream casting post since I have a new Forged Bloodlines book out. As you know, I ALWAYS cast these suckers in my head when I’m in the process of writing, so I thought I’d share my picks for how I see the characters in my head. I’ll include Bishop, Rob and Anja as a refresher, but you can see the rest of the cast from my last dreamcasting posts here:

Wake Me When the Sun Goes Down
Find Me When the Sun Goes Down
Miss Me When the Sun Goes Down

Anja Evans: Teresa Palmer – So I hadn’t cast a female lead as a blonde before, but since it went with the Viking ancestry link for this series, I decided to try something new. I like Teresa Palmer because she can play innocence well, but you get the feeling like she could seriously kick a little ass once she comes into her own. (see her with a shotgun in Warm Bodies)

Rob: Jason Statham – Rob is a character I borrowed from my True Blood fanfic, and I pictured him as Handsome Rob from The Italian Job at the time and the name just stuck. He looks like he could hold his own against a vampire and I just love his voice with the accent.

Bishop: Chris Evans – Before I even nailed down this character I had Chris Evans in mind, as he looks in the movie Push, which is a little rough around the edges, but definitely formidable. He’s got that ability to play tough, but with a vulnerability that makes him relatable. Plus, he’s so damn pretty to look at.

Jennike Vendal: Famke Janssen – She’s beautiful, but there’s a hardness to her that could easily portray the ambitious Elder of the East.

Aubrey Cantrell: Joseph Morgan – I think he could play Bishop’s charming but opportunistic brother very easily. Plus, despite how cruel and heartless he can play, he conveys a sense of vulnerability behind it very well.

Macallister James: Josh Holloway – My favorite cowboy. This guy could swindle you out of your shoes and make you feel like you’re coming out on top of the deal. Also, I’m a sucker for his dimples any day.

Rein Faust: Michael Fassbender – I can totally see him as the charismatic leader of the Belonoc. Focused, the type of man to go after what he wants, and eager to bring his House into the new Millenium.

Jean Pierre Severine: Dougray Scott – I think he brings a sympathetic, brooding cast to the role of the Elder of Toulac. Every time I look at his picture, I just want to give him a hug.

Volkov: Daniel Gillies – I wanted someone for the role who didn’t look particularly threatening at first glance, but who can definitely step up the menace with a single look – without losing his cool.

After just a week of sales, Follow Me When the Sun Goes Down is currently #4 in Hot New Releases for Occult and #8 in Hot New Releases for Horror!
This places my current Amazon Author Rank at:
#23 in Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Horror
#90 in Books > Romance > Fantasy & Futuristic

Thanks to everyone for their amazing support. I couldn’t do it without you!

Also, if anyone is in the Vancouver/Portland area, I’ll be doing a book signing for the local Red Cross at the Books & Blood drive this Thursday the 19th.

I’m sure a lot of you know, I work in the insurance industry. When a major disaster hits like hurricane Sandy, we all pull together to help out, even though I’m in auto insurance. Over the past week we got over 40,000 claims and at last report, they’re still coming in by the thousands. I’m not one of the brave scrambling to fly out there and help people face to face. Those of us left in the office (and they took a third of my dept) are left trying to somehow absorb all the work of those who were deployed and keep up with the busier holiday season, all while helping to field some of those incoming property claims to obtain more information so we can help triage the worst claims as best we can.

Here’s what I’ve learned this week. Rich people suck. Let me preface this by saying, I’ve talked to so many nice people who are just grateful that they survived the storm and their friends and families are safe and sound. Most people have been very understanding of the process, and we tell them they don’t have to wait on us to get their repairs started, just keep receipts and pictures of the damages. And then there’s the rich and entitled who expect us to magically have someone on their doorstep by the next day to replace their entire roof because a few shingles are missing and they don’t want a simple repair done.

I spoke to a NY woman yesterday who bitched because I wouldn’t escalate her claim and help her find “emergency relocation assistance” because she was displaced by flooding water. Okay, let’s define her emergency displacement a little more here. The very first thing she makes a point of telling me is that her condo is valued at 2.5 million dollars. The woman and her kids were evacuated and she has learned that her condo building did flood in the basement and 1st floor. Her unit is on the 5th floor and is currently without power. She has a flooded storage space in the basement, spoiled food in the fridge and her fridge leaked onto the kitchen floor, which may *or may not* have damage to it. How does she know this? Because she made her nanny go check the damage and clean it up. She isn’t on the street with her two kids, she’s staying at her brother’s house in New Jersey, but she doesn’t *want* to stay there, she wants to stay in the city because it’s more convenient. I tried explaining to her that we’re doing the best we can with a disaster of this magnitude, but I can’t escalate her claim because that’s reserved for real emergencies. To put it in perspective, I have a guy who’s living in his car because his bedroom and living room are flooded with backed up sewage. I have a guy who can’t stay in his car because there’s a roof on top of it. He can’t tell if it’s his roof or his neighbor’s roof because they’re both completely off.

I’m pretty sure if this woman can afford a 2.5 mil condo, she can make some arrangements to pay for a hotel stay if she *needs* to be in the city. But instead she chose to bitch and moan to me about how inconvenient this all is for her because I couldn’t guarantee we could reimburse her for something like that and she’d have to wait to talk to her adjuster to go over coverage. I’ve never felt *less* empathy towards a human being in my life. If it was possible for me to de-escalate her claim, I would have.

So here I am, up at 5am on a Saturday, too stressed to sleep, thinking about sucky people and all the stuff I have to cram into my weekend because I am so wiped out every day after work. I know, I’m grateful I wasn’t in the hurricane myself, and I’m grateful to have a good job. But I swear, my final sixty days at work are shaping up to be the most sucktastic in my six years in the industry. Here’s to hoping I can survive the stress!

Here is a little sample to whet your appetite:

Lying in the dark, Sara’s mind started to drift when the squeak of the door’s hinges made her eyes snap open. Instead of the comforting hall light, the room was pitch black, the window coverings doing their duty after she’d made sure the windows were locked up tight to avoid a repeat of the freeze out that morning. The creak of floorboards told her someone was in the room, but she couldn’t so much as glimpse a hint of movement in the inky blackness.

“Katie?” she whispered, thinking the maid might be sneaking in to leave or retrieve something, and the noise stopped. Long seconds passed, Sara’s heart pounding loudly in her ears as she waited for the intruder to identify itself, but the next sound that came was another footfall at the side of the bed. Quick like a fox, Sara reached over and snapped on the bedside lamp, squinting at the sudden burst of light, but there wasn’t anyone standing there. “Seriously losing my mind…” her head fell back against the pillow in disgust.

That’s when she noticed the bedroom door stood a few inches open.

“I know I shut that door,” Sara muttered, but now she wasn’t sure what to believe. There was no one in the room as far as she could see. Unless they were hiding under the bed…

“Hello?” she tried, her voice sounding small in the stillness of the room. Deciding she was being an idiot, she jumped out of bed and ducked her head under it, prepared to spring away at the first sign of a murderous asylum escapee. “You’re the one who belongs in an asylum,” she sighed, not finding so much as a dust bunny under there. Grabbing a fireplace poker, she methodically checked the bathroom, and the dressing room, but she was completely alone. Deciding to chalk it up to an overzealous imagination, she shut the bedroom door again, turning the key in the lock; Katie could knock the next morning.

“Seriously losing my mind…”
